Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

African Broadway, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit africanbroadway.org, contact us or make a donation, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email us at support@africanbroadway.org.

Information you give us

Contact form. When you use the form on our Contact page, we receive your name, email address and message. The form sends them to our email inbox so that we can reply. The website does not keep a copy.

Donations through PayPal. PayPal donations are completed on PayPal’s own site. PayPal sends us your name, email address, the amount and a transaction reference, and we keep a record of these in our website so that we can manage and acknowledge donations. We never see or store your card or bank details.

Donations by card or Apple Pay. These are completed on a secure payment page run by Stripe. Stripe shares your name, email address, the amount and a payment reference with us in our Stripe account. We never see or store your full card details.

Auditions. Audition applications are made through a Google Form run by African Broadway. We receive the details you give, including your name, contact details, age, location, background, the roles you are interested in, links to your videos and photo, and your availability. Your answers are stored in our Google account (see Google’s privacy policy). We use them only to consider you for casting.

Email. If you email us directly, we receive whatever you choose to include.

Information collected automatically

Like every website, ours receives some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, the type of browser you use and the pages you request. Our website host uses this to deliver the site and keep it secure, and keeps it for a limited period.

Visitor activity. To understand how our website is used, we record which pages are visited and a few actions, such as clicks on donate or email links and turning on the trailer sound. For each, we note the approximate city and country, worked out on our own server from your IP address (using IP Geolocation by DB-IP), and the type of device and browser. We do not store your IP address and do not set cookies for this. Visits on the same day are grouped by a code that changes every day, so we cannot identify you. Your browser also keeps a note of the date of your last visit, stored on your own device and not as a cookie, so our reports can tell new visitors from returning ones: only whether you are new or returning, and how many days since your last visit, is sent to us. These reports, with a daily summary and notices of completed donations (amount only), are sent to our team through Telegram and kept for 90 days.

We do not use advertising trackers, and the site does not set cookies of its own for visitors. Our host’s security system may set a cookie if it needs to check that a visitor is a person and not an automated program. Our fonts are served from our own website, so your visit is not shared with a font service.

Videos

Some pages show videos from YouTube, including the House of Naira trailer on our home page. When a video loads, YouTube, which is owned by Google, may collect information and set cookies under its own privacy policy.

How we use information

  • To reply to your messages.
  • To consider audition submissions for casting.
  • To process and acknowledge donations and send receipts.
  • To keep the financial records a nonprofit organization is required to keep.
  • To keep our website secure and working properly.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that run parts of our work for us, and only as much as they need: PayPal and Stripe for payments (see the PayPal and Stripe privacy policies), our website host, our email provider, Google (for audition applications) and Telegram (for the visitor activity reports described above). We may also share information when the law requires it.

How long we keep information

We keep messages for as long as we need them to handle your enquiry and keep a record of our correspondence. We keep audition submissions only for as long as we need them for casting, unless you ask us to keep them for future productions. We keep donation records for as long as the law requires for nonprofit financial records.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, except where we must keep donation records by law. You can also ask us to stop contacting you. Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California, you may have further rights under local law. We honor these requests wherever you live. Email support@africanbroadway.org and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email support@africanbroadway.org and we will delete it.

International visitors

African Broadway is based in the United States. Information you send us may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, including the United Kingdom, where our website is hosted.

Security

Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and payments are handled entirely by PayPal and Stripe. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

Links to other websites

Our pages link to other websites, such as press articles and our social media profiles. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle information.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
