House of Naira

90 minutes

House of Naira uses one household as a reflection of Nigeria itself.

At the centre of the story is a wealthy patriarch and four wives whose different cultural identities, experiences and loyalties turn their shared home into a place of rivalry, tension and competing visions of belonging.

When an unexpected event forces the family to confront what divides them, the women must reckon with their differences and with the possibility that the survival of the house depends on finding a way forward together.

Through music, humour, conflict and performance, House of Naira explores identity, division, belonging and the difficult work of building unity in a country of many voices.
